YOUR DATA, EXPLAINED
Privacy policy.
Quiet is a home screen launcher that works without a Quiet account. Your app choices, usage history and optional notification information are used on your device for features you choose. Quiet has no ads, analytics SDK or crash-reporting SDK in this release. We do not automatically upload your usage history or notification content. Purchases go through Google Play, and a backup or diagnostic report leaves your device only when you choose where to export or share it.
01 / Who operates Quiet
Quiet for Android and this website are published by sayne.design. For a privacy question or request, email privacy@sayne.design. Quiet does not require an account or a sign-in with us.
02 / What Quiet uses on your device
Quiet uses information to provide the launcher features you choose. Most of this remains in Quiet's local app storage.
| Information | Why Quiet uses it | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Installed, launchable apps and your choices | Show Home and the app drawer; launch and search apps; save favourites, names, folders, hiding and settings. | Processed and stored locally. |
| App usage events and screen time, if you grant Usage access | Show your usage summaries and enforce limits or schedules you configure. | Processed and stored locally; not included in a configuration export. |
| Notification information, if you grant Notification access | Show optional indicators, previews, rules and Catch-Up. | Processed and stored locally; not included in a configuration export. |
| Settings, layouts and focus rules | Remember your preferences and run the features you enable. | Stored locally; selected configuration can be exported by you. |
| Diagnostic events | Help you inspect and report launcher problems. | Stored locally; a limited report can be previewed and shared by you. |
Quiet's app manifest does not request contacts, location, camera, microphone, Advertising ID or broad file access. Your browser or another app may have separate access when you choose to open it from Quiet.
03 / Optional Android access
Quiet explains sensitive access before sending you to Android settings. You can decline or later revoke it. Basic Home and the app drawer remain available.
- Usage access: reads local app usage events for screen-time views, limits and foreground detection.
- Notification access: reads notifications for optional dots, previews, rules and Catch-Up.
- Draw over other apps: can show a reminder over an app when your own limit applies.
- Accessibility, system actions: performs only a system action you assigned to a Quiet gesture, such as opening the notification shade. It does not read window contents or typed text.
- Accessibility, faster limit detection: uses a foreground app's package name from window-change events to check your limit rules. It does not read window contents or typed text.
- Notification policy access: can apply an optional Do Not Disturb rule you configured.
- Device administrator: optional second way to lock the screen; Quiet uses the force-lock policy, and you can deactivate it in settings.
- Foreground service and notifications: a screen-on watcher can check user-configured app limits. Android may show its service notification.
Android controls these grants. Revoking one can stop the feature that depends on it. Quiet's two Accessibility services are optional launcher features, not accessibility tools intended primarily for users with disabilities.
05 / This website
This site has no sign-in, contact form, advertising cookies or analytics script. The hosting provider may process ordinary request information, such as IP address, browser details and requested pages, to deliver and protect the site. The site's fonts are loaded from Google Fonts; your browser contacts Google to retrieve them. We do not use this website to read information stored by Quiet on your phone.
06 / Retention and deletion
Quiet keeps local settings and feature data while the app is installed and the related features are in use. Notification items and diagnostics can be cleared through the controls provided in the app. Quiet does not promise a fixed retention period for every local record. To remove all local Quiet data, use Android's Clear storage control or uninstall the app.
Automatic Android cloud backup and device transfer of Quiet's private app data are disabled in the app's backup rules. Copies you explicitly exported or shared are outside Quiet's app storage; delete them from the selected destination separately. Google Play keeps purchase records according to its own policies.
07 / Security
Quiet uses Android's app storage and permission controls to limit access to local data. No method of storage or transfer is perfectly secure. If you share a backup or diagnostic report, review its destination and that service's protections.
08 / Children
Quiet is a general-purpose launcher and personal focus aid. It is not a parental-control or child-monitoring product, and it is not designed to secretly monitor another person's device.
09 / Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Quiet changes. The effective date above will change when we publish a revision. For privacy questions, correction or deletion requests, contact privacy@sayne.design. For data stored only on your device, clearing Quiet's storage or uninstalling it is the direct deletion method; we cannot remotely access that local data.
